From 20 November to 16 February 2025, the exhibition Fascinating children's clothing, a journey around the world will take place at the Sanctuary of St Gerlach in Houthem.
Using traditional children's clothing from Monique Derwig's collection, you will be taken on a journey around the world.
You can learn about the great diversity in traditional clothing and the customs associated with it. Applied techniques will also be shown.
Traditional clothing can be used by individuals or groups to define themselves and express their own identity. It can mark rites of passage and constitutes a valuable cultural heritage.
Traditional clothing tells something about the wearer, their community, the time in which they lived. This exhibition is partly designed to promote appreciation of other cultures and encourage diversity and intercultural understanding.
